ALUMINIUM CRITTALL STYLE TRAPEZOID WINDOW, VISOFOLD BI-FOLD DOOR & UPVC WINDOWS FITTED IN EALING, WEST LONDON

The project at Carbery Avenue near Ealing Common station, West London, formed part of a substantial rear extension and full property upgrade, combining bespoke Crittall style aluminium windows and doors with high performance uPVC flush sash systems. The design emphasised slim sightlines, strong architectural symmetry and energy efficient double glazing, finished in Deep Black and White to create a striking contemporary contrast.

A key architectural feature is the trapezoid Crittall style aluminium window positioned above the main door. Manufactured using the AluK 58BW HI and 58BD system, this fixed casement element consists of five fixed glazing panes shaped to follow the roof pitch. The upper angle of 131.6° and lower angle of 47.9° create a distinctive geometric appearance that enhances the extension design. Finished in RAL 9005 Matt Deep Black, the window includes four vertical 18mm Georgian bars to replicate a classic steel look window style while maintaining modern aluminium thermal performance. The glass specification is clear toughened double glazing, providing strength, safety and excellent light transmission. With no cill and no trickle vents, the design remains clean and minimal, perfectly aligned with the door below.

Directly beneath this feature window, a Crittall style aluminium bi folding door was installed using the Visofold 1000 system. The five leaf configuration opens outwards to the right, creating a wide opening that seamlessly connects the interior living space with the garden. Finished in RAL 9005 Matt Deep Black, the bi folding doors incorporate two horizontal 18mm Georgian bars to mirror the upper window design. A frame extender was included to accommodate two trickle vents positioned at the lowest point, allowing sufficient internal finishing space for plasterboard above. The doors are fitted with clear toughened double glazing, delivering durability, thermal efficiency and slim aluminium sightlines typical of steel look bi fold doors.

To the side elevation, a large aluminium casement window was installed using the same AluK 58BW HI system, also finished in Deep Black Matt. This window consists of five fixed glazing panes and one top hung opening sash, offering expansive views and practical ventilation. It features slim feature mullions and transoms, an AW614 IG slim chamfered vent sash, black espag handle, standard friction stay hinges and ST offset locking system. A 150mm drop nose cill and concealed drainage system ensure weather protection, while a black 4000ea trickle vent provides background ventilation. The glazing specification includes 4/20/4 clear toughened double glazing with argon gas fill, black thermobar spacer and polysulphide seal, enhancing thermal performance and long term durability.

In addition to the aluminium systems, several Liniar Sculpt Flush Sash uPVC windows were fitted in white to other areas of the property, providing a traditional aesthetic with modern multi chamber insulation. Four top hung uPVC casement windows were installed with Yale flush locking, standard hinges, concealed drainage and 150mm white cills. These incorporate 4/20/4 obscure double glazing with argon gas fill and black thermobar spacer, ensuring privacy and energy efficiency.

Two further uPVC casement windows combine a top hung opening sash with a fixed field window, increasing natural light while maintaining ventilation. These units also include Glazpart trickle vents and high performance obscure glass for privacy.

A larger white uPVC casement window includes two top hung windows and two side hung windows, allowing flexible airflow and enhanced ventilation control. This configuration features dual Glazpart trickle vents, Yale flush locking and clear toughened double glazing with argon fill, improving both insulation and security.

Three additional uPVC fixed windows were incorporated using the Liniar Sculpt Flush Sash profile, maximising daylight while maintaining energy efficiency through 4/20/4 clear toughened double glazing and argon gas fill.

The project was completed with a white uPVC French door system, also from the Liniar Sculpt range. This open in French door includes dual lever handles, Maxim hinges, an Ingenious multipoint locking system and a 150mm cill. The glass specification consists of clear toughened double glazing with argon gas and black thermobar spacer, ensuring strong thermal performance and secure garden access.

Overall, this project at Carbery Avenue showcases a cohesive combination of Crittall style aluminium windows and bi folding doors with energy efficient uPVC flush sash windows and French doors, delivering modern design, enhanced natural light, improved insulation and long term durability throughout the property.
